We’re trying out some new blog toys as we gear up for the fall season. So it gave me an excuse to post this article from Rise Magazine/ESPN on the New York Yankees’ 2009 Area Code baseball team that will represent the Northeast.
On that team is former Auburn High star Tyler Beede, who helped the Rockets to a Division 2 state title this season and has since announced his plans to head to Lawrence Academy.
Beede is one of four players from Massachusetts, joining Alex Farkes (Buckingham Browne & Nichols), Kevin Ziomek (Amherst), and Ryan Perry.
The team is pretty exclusive, as one of last year’s players, Mike Trout, was drafted by the Angels in the first round this year. This year’s team includes Gatorade Player of the Year (N.H.) Mike Montville and Stetson Allie, who was recently hitting 98 on radar guns.
It’s been an interesting summer for Beede, and it looks like his hype is just beginning. Here’s the article:
